San Jose police actively engaged in standoff with homicide suspect
Police in San Jose were actively engaged in a standoff on Wednesday morning with a homicide suspect who was firing shots at officers, officials said.
The San Jose Police Department said in a series of tweets that the suspect had barricaded himself inside a home or a shed in the 100 block of Bendorf Drive in a residential neighborhood a few blocks east of the Edenvale Shopping Center.
Police said they believe suspect is responsible for shooting and killing a man on Tuesday night in the 1400 block of Mt. Shasta Drive, police said.
The suspect fired a gun at officers on Wednesday during a pursuit, police said.
Officials evacuated some residents in the area due to the suspect firing additional shots while behind the barricade, the tweet said.
“He was shooting at Officers and is armed and dangerous,” police said.
On Tuesday, a man was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more details become available.
