A crash injured a police officer when the officer’s vehicle was struck by another vehicle driving away from a shooting scene Sunday in Oakland, police said Monday.

Officers witnessed the shooting, which occurred shortly after 8:30 p.m., when they were in the 1400 block of Peralta Street.

The shooter ran into a nearby home after he fired the gun, according to police. Then, a vehicle traveling away from the scene hit the officer’s vehicle.

The officer was taken to a hospital and was said to be in stable condition Monday morning, according to police.

The vehicle that struck the police vehicle may be associated with the shooting, police said.

Oakland police did not provide any other information about the incident.
