(by Alex Kekauoha) – San Mateo County officials are warning the public about an aggressive mountain lion near the unincorporated area of Pescadero.

On Saturday at about 9 p.m., a resident in the 5000 block of Pescadero Creek Road let their small pet outside the home. A short time later, the resident heard the pet yelp, and the animal has not been seen since, county officials said.

County officials said that although there is no confirmed proof that the pet was taken by a mountain lion, they have recently received reports of an aggressive lion in the area that has killed livestock.

Residents in the area are urged to use caution with their pets and livestock, especially during the late evening and early morning hours, county officials said.
