Scene: Laughs for charities

The philanthropic group Saint Helen Philoptochos recently held its fundraiser “Comedy Night with Basile” at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Cardiff-by-the-Sea. The evening featured Greek comedian Basile. The banquet hall was transformed into a “comedy club” with oversized photos of famous comedians. The event enabled Saint Helen Philoptochos to donate $31,000 to multiple charities. Just in Time for Foster Youth of San Diego received $20,000. An additional $11,000 was donated to other charities that included Alpha Project, Feeding San Diego, Boys and Girls Club of Vista, Doors of Change and ElderHelp.
